DUPR League

This is a highly competitive league which is played on Thursday nights.  The explanation of how it is structured is explained later in the text, but this is not a team league.  To play, everyone must have a DUPR rating.  The plan is to have a fall and a spring schedule.  The fall schedule is shown below.

Due to court limitations, the league can only accommodate up to 32 players.  If more than that sign up, the highest ranked players will get in.

The current plan is to have two brackets.  The top 16 ranked players in one, and the next 16 in another.  But as stated, this is a league that is to be centered around strong competitive matches.  To accomplish this, players in a bracket need to have ratings that are close to each other.  If the rating gaps are too large, then brackets will be adjusted.  There could be more than 2 brackets but no matter, at the most, only 32 players will be able to participate.

The regular portion of the league will last 8 weeks.  Each week there will be a selection of four players per court.  They will play a match that will contain 3 games of 15.   As an example, player A would play with player B, then C, and then D.  Players can enter their scores into the DUPR app either at the end of each game or at the end of the match.  It is up to that 4 some, but the match’s scores must be agreed upon before entering scores.

On the 9th week, each bracket will have its own playoff.  The highest 4 point getters from the season within their respective bracket will square off against each other.  The playoff will be a single match, i.e. each player will play with a different partner 1 time.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd will be determined by the points attained in the 3 games played.  In the event of a tie, the season long total points attained by each player will be used as a tie breaker.  If that does not break the tie, then head to head matches in aggregate throughout the season will be used.

In order to find who will be in the playoff match, out of the 24 games to be played, a player’s top 18 scores will be used.  This allows for poor outings and/or missed weeks.
